4 top tips to improve your happiness

Self-preservation is a spiritual technique that will save you a lot of time, unnecessary grief and worry. With a bit of practice, you can master this technique without feeling guilty.

What is self-preservation?

Self-preservation falls under the banner of self-love. Think of it like a protection barrier to support your own happiness. The protection barrier of self-preservation aids your spiritual growth. It brings you closer to your own authentic truth and will enhance your life in many ways.

So where do you start?

If you’re ready to start living a happier, healthier lifestyle? I share 4 of my best tips to help you get started.

Tip 1: Become the observer in your everyday life.

This means watching and listening rather than interacting. By doing this you will not only save yourself energy but you will start to notice exactly what is going on in your surroundings. You will be able to identify who drains your energy and where you’re wasting time on things that don’t matter or the things that are out of your control.

Tip 2: Be aware of drama and negativity.

As you take a step back and become the observer in your own life. You will notice how much unnecessary drama and negativity presents itself every day. You can avoid drama and harmful negativity as you become the spectator and not the participant in your own life. This allows you to become more mindful of where you choose to spend your time and energy. Time is precious and it’s the one thing that we will never get back. So it’s important to be mindful of this fact as you embark on your own self-preservation discoveries.

Tip 3: Choose where to engage and where not to engage with people.

At times this can be tricky but it’s true, ‘less is more’. So the less time and energy you put towards things that are out of your control. The more rejuvenated and less fearful you will be by not engaging in the fears of others. For example: You don’t need to watch every feared based news report.

Tip 4: Set boundaries.

The most important thing when it comes to self-preservation is setting boundaries for yourself. You need to decide where you wish to spend your time and energy each day. This involves listening to your spirit and working out what’s best for you on a personal scale. Take into consideration where your energy is being drained and by whom? Identifying this will give you the freewill choice on what you need to avoid and stay away from to keep your vibe high and balanced.

On a personal note:

I started this practice over 20 years ago and it has been a game changer for me. It’s saved me making the wrong decisions. Involving myself with the wrong people and enhanced my happiness ten fold because I chose to avoid what was causing me more harm than good in my life.

I still practice self-preservation each day and have learnt over time, not to feel guilty for putting myself first while aligning what fits my spirit and soul best, so that I can be a better Mum, friend and person.
